City Information: Tampa Bay is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, in one of the most beautiful parts of the United States. Originally an Indian fishing village, the city has grown to the third most populous in the state of Florida and a major tourist area.

As a result of the decision of the influential Cuban cigar manufacturer, Don Vicente Martinez Ybor, to move his business to Tampa from Key West the city gained a large Latin and Italian workforce which has created a distinctly Latin feel to the city. At one time Tampa was one of the world’s major producers of cigars. With the trade embargo enforced against Castro’s Cuba, this trade became less prominent. However, Tampa’s Latin community continues to thrive and have a major impact on the life of the city.

Tampa has a great nightlife, which is dominated by a Latin beat, but there is something for everyone in the city. With many excellent restaurants as well as a wealth of great bars and clubs in which to party, Tampa is a city which is alive 24 hours a day.
