PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An investigation is underway after a 16-year-old was gunned down near a party at an Airbnb in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
According to Pittsburgh Police, officers responded to a Shotspotter alert for the 100 block of Secane Avenue just before 1 a.m. Monday.
Alicia Ohly lives a few doors down from the Airbnb and has witnessed the chaos.
“I saw the kids up there in the alley, and that’s when I saw the one with the gun,” Ohly said. “Then they took off once they saw cars coming in and it was the cops. “
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a group of people leaving a party in an apartment that served as Airbnb. Police found no casualties at the scene, but observed gunshot damage to a vehicle on the street.

At around 2 a.m., police said a 16-year-old boy presented to hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm. He told police he was leaving Secane Avenue when he was shot.
“I was a little anxious,” Ohly said. “It’s not something I’ve never heard before, but when I heard that the cartridge cases were so close to my house, it made me a little anxious and scared.”
Ohly is hoping to see more restrictions and oversight in this Airbnb to try and stop the ongoing violence.
“I have a 10-year-old child. I don’t want him to think that’s how life is. Whether you’re going to a party, your friends have guns and that’s okay. It is not ok. You have to be respectful, ”Ohly said.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
