Slowly but surely we are seeing more and more community events being announced. With new outdoor markets, animal gatherings, and live music, how can you choose?

Before planning your weekend, be sure to check the weather forecast and air quality. With the current heatwave and forest fire smoke that should remain throughout the weekend, it will be important to take this into account when determining your weekend plans.

Pet palooza

The biggest outdoor animal festival is back! Bring your four-legged friend to the Pet Palooza event to taste treats, find new accessories and toys, and get loads of free gifts!

Dragon Boat Festival

This year the Canada Dry Dragon Boat Festival is a little different! Due to the pandemic, the 2021 festival will not include dragon boat races, but there will be many other community events to participate in.

The theme of the 2021 event is “The Spirit of the Dragon – Resilience”. The theme, which will run through all events, celebrates a united community that has persevered over the past year.

Events include a Battle of the Bands event taking place via TikTok and Instagram as well as a Lights of Courage campaign. Attendees can purchase a colorful lantern for $ 2 at Fairways Markets, write a message of hope on its label, and add it to the lantern display, either at Ship’s Point when you visit our festival celebrations on the 14th and 15th. August, or at their local Fairway Market.

The event honors those who fight cancer, those who fought it and those who got lost in the fight against it.

$ 1 from each lantern sale will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation.

No, you have not been transported in time, it is very real! Legacy Drive-In has announced the hours for its open-air theater at Westshore Motorsports Park.
