In May, Du’Vonta Lampkin was shot dead in a short-term rental on South Ervay Street where he was staying while his flat was being prepared.

Earlier this month, Dallas police arrested Antwan Franklin, 22, and Erick Garcia, 24, and charged them with Lampkin’s murder.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Franklin knew that his friend, Lampkin, had money and had arranged a robbery. Franklin contacted Garcia and told him to recruit another person to help with the theft.

Court documents indicate that Franklin was hanging out with Lampkin very early in the morning of May 5.

When Lampkin and Franklin returned to the building where Lampkin was staying, police said Franklin led two men into the building while Lampkin was not looking.

Investigators said Garcia and the unknown suspect hid on a staircase and waited for Lampkin to arrive at his Airbnb.

Minutes later, an unreleased video reportedly showed Garcia running up the stairs with Lampkins’ bag “which was known to be full of cash.”

Police said Lampkin was found on the ground with a bullet wound to his chest.

Lampkin’s murder was featured on FOX 4 reporter Shaun Rabb’s Trackdown series.

Family members said the 25-year-old former footballer was moving back to Texas and was due to move into his new Dallas apartment the day after his murder.

“Excited about Dallas. He wanted to get into real estate,” Lampkin’s cousin Kerry Lampkin previously said. “He was enthusiastic about real estate, and I think he would have succeeded because whatever he thinks about, he’s going to conquer it.”
