The Moulin Rouge windmill is now on Airbnb

Built in 1889 and immortalized by Toulouse-Lautrec, the Moulin Rouge is celebrating its 133rd anniversary this year. It is one of the most famous symbols of the French capital in the world and a must for travelers to Paris. Visitors can enjoy an incredible show with more than 1,000 feathered, rhinestone and sequined costumes, sumptuous sets in vibrant colors and the famous Cancan. Today, this iconic Moulin Rouge opens its doors to the public, revealing a secret room inside. It is in this space unknown to most that Airbnb travelers now have the opportunity to stay, rediscovering all the charm of the cabaret and the magical atmosphere of the Belle Époque.

Indeed, three couples of travelers will have the possibility of booking three different stays, of one night and at the price of one euro each, to experience this journey through time within one of the Parisian icons par excellence. In addition to the stay, guests will have the opportunity to discover the backstage of the emblematic theater and attend the famous Moulin Rouge Féerie show. They will be welcomed by an exceptional host, prima ballerina Claudine Van Den Bergh.

“Attending a show at the Moulin Rouge offers people a moment of escape from reality. The Belle Époque-inspired interiors inside our beloved mill will transport travelers back to the years this cabaret was born,” says Van Den Bergh.

The Moulin Rouge, in the heart of Montmartre, is the birthplace of the famous Cancan, the energetic and glamorous French dance that symbolized the French Belle Époque. To recreate the decorative and stylistic details of this famous historical period, Airbnb collaborated with renowned historian Jean-Claude Yon, a specialist in the history of France in the 19th century. The result is a piece that faithfully reproduces what the interior of the mill might have looked like at that time.
