After ING, Belfius also intends to close several branches
Belfius plans to close fourteen statutory agencies, but the bancassurer assures that this will not have an impact on employment, report Echo and From Tijd Thursday. Belfius also intends to redesign its entire branch network, which has already been reduced by a fifth over the past five years.
Belfius intends to close fourteen statutory branches next year, out of the 595 branches in Belgium, 80% of which are operated by independent agents.
The agencies set to disappear over the next few months are above all those whose attendance is at half mast. The measure will have no impact on employment in the company. Employees working in branches that are due to close may receive another establishment or take on another role in the bank.
Belfius not only wants to reduce the number of branches, but also to redesign its entire branch network. Currently made up of twenty-two regions, it will soon number only twelve. The aim is to make the group structure simpler and less hierarchical.
