Airbnb ad suspended for spreading false vaccine information
An Airbnb ad was put on hold after it said only unvaccinated people were welcome at the facility.
A US-based reporter said he came across an advertisement making false claims that the ingredients in Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are spread from person to person, a story regularly pushed by those who oppose vaccines.
“It is now scientifically proven, and clearly stated on the websites of vaccine manufacturers,” that the mRNA protein contained in the ingredients FAILED in people who have been vaccinated. [sic] skin, breath, etc., and will be passed on to unvaccinated people, ”a screenshot of the list reads.
“For the health and safety of not only other guests but also ourselves, all guests vaccinated with COVID are urged to find another vacation rental that allows guests who have been vaccinated. ”
Airbnb told The Cube, Euronews’ social media press office, that it had “suspended the list for promoting COVID disinformation” in violation of its content policy.
Pfizer said the claims on the list were false.
“Because there is no virus produced in the body, no excretion occurs in the human body. The vaccine cannot be inhaled by excretion and can only enter the human body through an administered dose. ”
The Cube has been following disinformation on social media throughout the pandemic and has seen this claim regularly.
None of the tweets found by The Cube had been reported by the social media platform, despite the misinformation.
Experts fear that this type of online content will result in fewer people showing up for the COVID-19 vaccine.
