Airbnb and bed and breakfast sites publish update on stay bookings

Current lockdown restrictions in the UK mean holiday cottages, Airbnbs and hotel rooms have closed for the time being.

This means that we will not be able to book a stay for the next few weeks at least until government travel restrictions are lifted. However, that does not mean that it is not possible to book your next big vacation.

Airbnb, the sites that sell vacation cottage stays, and hotel expert Booking.com have all posted tips on where you can book and when you’re likely to travel. There have also been updates on the new security measures you can expect when booking a UK holiday.

Airbnb

Airbnb has open listings across the country. However, the UK government has warned against all but essential travel. This means that you won’t be able to stay away from home until the restrictions are lifted.

You can book for later in the year, but each listing will have a different cancellation policy. Airbnb says, “Cancellation policies are set by the hosts and vary between flexible, moderate and strict, depending on the listing. You can find details of each listing’s cancellation policy on the main page of each listing. “

Once they reopen, new cleaning and security measures will be put in place. Starting November 20, all hosts (except in China) will be required to commit to Airbnb’s new COVID-19 security and cleaning practices.

Holiday Homes.co.uk

Existing bookings made for early 2021 have now been pushed back due to the latest government foreclosure advice.

The cottages site states that guests can either change the date of their reservation, get a refund in the form of vouchers or get a full cash refund depending on the guest’s preference.

Reservations are now taken for after March 8.

HolidayCottage says: “Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on January 27, 2021 that schools will not reopen until March 8 at the earliest, we now expect that holidays will not be able to take place in England before that date at the most. We will contact all affected guests within the next 48 hours. Thank you for your patience.

“We are currently accepting new bookings for vacations departing on or after March 8, 2021. You can make a reservation on or after that date in the usual way through our website or by contacting our reservations team.”

Holiday homes in Sykes

Sykes Cottages is accepting bookings for summer 2021. As with HolidayCottage, however, bookings in England cannot be made until March 8 at the earliest.

It says, “If your reservation is affected, you can either rearrange your reservation to new dates, with no change fees; or receive a full refund in cash * if you prefer.”

Reservations can be made on public holidays after March 8, but this can be further postponed according to government advice.

Booking.com

While reservations can be made on Booking.com, it warns that you should check government advice to check if you can travel legally.

It says: “Please check travel restrictions before booking and going to accommodation. Travel may be permitted only for certain purposes and in particular, tourist travel may not be permitted.”

Booking.com is holding a 20% holiday sale for 2021 in hopes the restrictions will be lifted. Offers include stays in London from £ 68 and trips to Edinburgh from £ 94. You can see the sale here.
