Airbnb announces the biggest travel change in a decade

Airbnb will finally give you guaranteed protection on your next booking.

This is just one of three big changes announced overnight by the online platform that allows you to book and list accommodation.

The enhanced protection is called AirCover for customers, and it’s the first time the company has offered a comprehensive product for travelers.

The new system already exists for hosts.

Reservation Protection Guarantee

If a host needs to cancel your reservation within thirty days of check-in, Airbnb will find you a similar or better listing.

And if that fails, you get a refund.

Registration Guarantee

If you can’t check into your listing – and the host can’t resolve the issue – the same remedy is available.

Get what you booked

If your ad doesn’t match the ad, you’ll have three days to report it and then follow the same solution process.

It’s also advertised split stays – a feature that allows you to combine two different properties under one booking.

And there’s a new way to search — called Airbnb categories — where homes are organized by style, location, or proximity to a travel activity.

Susan Wheeldon, Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, told Sunrise the changes will give Australians peace of mind.

“All of these new product announcements are about making it easier for Australians to find amazing places to go and to have the security and comfort of knowing that when they book they’ll get exactly what they paid for,” he said. said Wheeldon. .

The new changes come on top of the 150 upgrades made to the platform last year.
