A person staying in an Airbnb came across a “scary” find halfway by taking a peaceful bath.
They took pictures of the find and posted them online to get people’s thoughts on what it might be.
“Above the tub in my Airbnb,” the traveler posted on Reddit.
“I noticed it in the middle of my bath.”
After taking a closer look, they realized it was a loudspeaker lodged in the wall.
“I actually had to remove the grille to finally see it was a speaker. There are no audio jacks to use them,” they said.
“It was incredibly hard to see with the naked eye. I tried to photograph it from a few angles and I couldn’t figure it out. It forces me to remove the vent. It was 9 feet ( 2.7m) off the ground and I needed the camera to take a closer look.
“I was relieved to find the speaker, but it freaked me out.”
Social media users react to speaker
Although it was only posted a day ago, the post has received over 23,000 views, with some saying it was obvious he was a speaker.
“As soon as I saw the foam ring I knew it had to be a speaker,” one person said. “Very unfortunate design given its location though.”
“It’s a 4×6 car speaker. The smallest parts are a midrange and a tweeter. It’s a 3-way speaker. It may sound like the Pyle brand,” said another, which the poster agreed with.
“You’re right. On closer inspection, that was it.” they answered.
“Imagine if it was edited with a camera,” said a third person.
The majority of people didn’t seem to find the speaker scary, suggesting that “the previous owner really liked listening to music in the tub?”.
“I went to a resort a month ago and they had a speaker in the bathroom hooked up to the TV,” another said. “It was immediately one of those ‘I gotta have one at home’ moments when I tried it.”
“I have this setup, it’s really handy for watching sports and such,” said a third person.
