Airbnb makes ‘biggest change in a decade’ to help travelers

Airbnb is making big changes to its website to help travelers be more adventurous.

They are changing the search features so that vacationers can find the most amazing stays. The company will now offer holidaymakers properties they might want to visit instead of asking them to enter a destination.

The travel agency has designed a new way to search with Airbnb categories and the ability to split your trip between two homes with Split Stays. There are 56 categories to choose from, including over four million unique homes in the form of boats, caves, treehouses, castles, and even windmills.

Brian Chesky, CEO and Co-Founder of Airbnb, said, “The way people travel has changed forever. That’s why we’re introducing the biggest change to Airbnb in a decade. First, people are more flexible about where they live and work, so we designed a new way to search with Airbnb categories.

“Second, people are taking longer trips, so we’ve created Split Stays to give you more options by splitting your trip between two homes. And third, we’re introducing AirCover for travelers, giving you the confidence to book in knowing Airbnb is there for you.”

Airbnb categories will organize homes based on what makes them unique, helping people discover places they wouldn’t otherwise. This can help alleviate overtourism by redistributing travel to new places beyond the same popular destinations.
