Economic data released this week includes the Conference Board’s Leading Economic Index for January Monday and the Bureau of Economic Analysis’s personal income and spending for January Friday.
There will also be a pair of notable housing market indicators: Census Bureau new home sales for January on Wednesday and the National Association of Realtors’ pending home sales index for January on Thursday.

The conference council publishes its leading economic index for January. The consensus estimate is for a 0.3% month-over-month increase, matching December’s gain. The index has risen every month since last April, but the growth rate has slowed markedly in the final months of 2020.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is releasing its Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey for February. The consensus estimate is for a reading of 10, above the January figure of seven. Any number greater than zero indicates that the region’s manufacturing sector is growing.

The census office reports new home sales for January. Expectations are for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 850,000 homes sold, slightly above December’s figure. New home sales, although still strong, have surpassed their post-financial crisis peak of nearly $ 1 million set last July.

Accommodation site Airbnb is releasing its fourth quarter and full year 2020 results. The company’s shares have nearly tripled since it went public in December and are valued at more than the top five US hotel brands combined.

The Office of the Economy Analysis reports its second estimate of the fourth quarter gross domestic product. Economists forecast a seasonally adjusted annual growth rate of 4%, unchanged from the advanced estimate released in late January.
The national association of Realtors releases its January Pending Home Sales Index. The consensus estimate is for a 1.5% month-over-month decline. Pending home sales have fallen for four consecutive months.
