‘Airbnb of yachts’ offers Florida summer travel alternative – News – The Palm Beach Post

Maybe you’ve dreamed of sailing at sunset on a luxury yacht or going around the world by boat to fill your to-do list. But not only are finances tight, you don’t have a friend with a boat, and you don’t have any boating experience.

This is where Boatsetter, known as the “Yachts Airbnb” comes in.

Led by Miami-born CEO and co-founder Jaclyn Baumgarten, Boatsetter offers more than 26,000 boat rentals at more than 600 locations.

The Boatsetter website connects boat owners with potential renters. After exploring the fleet on the site, you will be connected with boat owners and captains. Unlike Airbnb, the longest boat rental term at Boatsetter is a full day.

You have no experience on the water? No problem. You can hire a US Certified Coast Guard boat captain for any Boatsetter rental, which makes the business different from most traditional charter boat companies.

The service can also suggest full day excursion routes for those who want an easy day plan.

“We are a one stop shop where anyone can have an amazing experience on the water, whether you want to go deep sea fishing, sailing or water sports, this is the only place you can go and have thousands of options to choose from, ”Baumgarten said.

Boats range from simple powerboats for a day of snorkeling to sailboats for sunset sailing sessions to full-fledged yachts, so there is something for everyone.

“We have boats in Mexico, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The beauty of this summer is that whether you’re traveling or at home, it’s a perfect way to spend time with friends and family, ”said Baumgarten.

While some of the luxury yachts on the site cost tens of thousands of dollars for a day at sea, not all rentals have to break the bank.

“We have boats that you can take for $ 250 for half a day, and if you can share that with 10 friends, it’s cheaper than going to dinner,” Baumgarten said.
