Airbnb offers all kinds of rentals, from the weirdest to the most wonderful.

And a new competition launched by the platform encourages designers, architects and aspiring hosts to build a rental home somewhere in between.

Moreover, they are ready to pay a large sum for the best ideas.

Airbnb will pay out £80,000 to select people to create an absolutely wild home – the more imaginative the better.

It could be a duck-shaped house, a property resting on tennis balls, or a futuristic spaceship – the crazier the idea, the better.

The only rule is that he has to fit into that “OMG!” category that launched last month – and has so far been clicked over 2.5 million times.

Ten winners will be selected in total and each will receive a cash prize of $100,000 (£81,000) – to go towards building their dream property.

And the best part is, once it’s up and running, hosts will likely earn a hefty amount of money renting out their home.

In fact, Airbnb says the average income for people on its platform is around £11,216 a year – but original rentals could bring in much more.

If you have a unique idea and want to get involved, you can submit it on the official website ‘OH MY GOD! Fund pagebefore the July 22 deadline.

The jury consists of fashion sensation Iris Apfel, architect Koichi Takada and Potato Hotel host Kristie Wolfe.

So if you want to impress, go big and weird.
