Homeowners can do so by following the Airbnb app instructions to run a few quick speed tests in their properties . From there, customers can compare results when looking for a place to book.

“As the increasing flexibility to work and live from anywhere continues, being able to determine an ad’s Wi-Fi speed before booking is a must for digital nomads, remote workers, road schoolers. , traveling families, gamers and creatives, ”the company’s announcement reads. “Guests want peace of mind that the place they are staying can meet their connected needs. “

Airbnb rental owners will be able to run Wi-Fi speed tests and share those speeds in their listings right from the Airbnb app.

Airbnb ads already allow homeowners to quote their property’s Wi-Fi speed, but the new built-in speed test – powered by M-Lab, the group behind one of CNET’s top speed test picks – will add an additional layer of certification for these claims. In addition to reassuring tenants who need speed, the results of these speed tests will also be shared with M-Lab’s open source and publicly accessible Internet performance metrics database.

Airbnb is rolling out its new speed test feature across the United States and plans to expand globally in the coming weeks.
