Apple News Expands Local Coverage to Three More U.S. Cities
Apple News is expansion its local news coverage in Charlotte, Miami and Washington, DC Local news coverage will give users access to many publications such as Axios Charlotte, the Charlotte Observer, Eater Miami, the Miami Herald, DCist, Washingtonian, The Washington Post and more.
Each local news experience is curated by the editors of Apple News and covers topics ranging from restaurant openings and real estate trends to big political decisions.
Last year, Apple News first launched local news experiences curated for the Bay Area, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. Earlier this year, Apple extended local news functionality to other U.S. cities, including Sacramento, San Antonio, and San Diego.
Apple has announced plans to expand its local news feature to more cities in the future. It is clear that the tech giant is looking to compete more with other news aggregation services such as Flipboard and SmartNews, which provide local news coverage in thousands of US cities.
Apple News local coverage expansion comes as Apple expands Fitness + and his Apple One Premier subscription package in 17 other countries on November 3. Countries include Austria, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
