TORONTO – Canadian and other global businesses say their websites and services are fully operational again after encountering technical difficulties or breakdowns this afternoon.

Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Montreal and PC Financial have all told customers on Twitter that their websites are back after letting people know that they are aware of the technical issues and have worked to resolve them.

Monitoring website Down Detector showed a sharp increase in technical difficulties reported on all three companies websites after 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time with Bank of Nova Scotia and Air Canada.

the websites Airbnb, AT&T, Costco, and Delta posted error messages around noon, but now appear to be operating normally.

Although many companies did not immediately respond to a request for comment or share the cause of the breakdowns, cloud service provider Akamai Technologies reported a service outage and claimed to have implemented a fix.

Akamai assured Twitter users that the disruption was not the result of a cyber attack and said it was continuing to monitor the situation.
