Birmingham City linked with ex-Liverpool and Milan striker
Birmingham City have been linked with a decision by former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Fabio Borini.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says the 30-year-old is of interest to the Blues who are looking to strengthen their attacking options.
He linked Borini with Blues technical director Craig Gardner, who was a Borini teammate at the Stadium of Light.
The pair spent the 2013/2014 campaign together in which Borini scored ten times in 40 games, Gardner three in 26 and the Black Cats reached the League Cup final and finished 14th in the Premier League.
Borini was on loan from Liverpool at that time and then joined for good after struggling to make his mark at Anfield.
He then played for Milan, Hellas Verona and in December 2020 signed for Super Lig club Fatih Karagümrük.
He has scored nine times in 20 games for the Turkish side playing mainly on the left wing but also as a striker.
The Blues currently have five frontline forwards, with new signing Chuks Aneke to back Lukas Jutkiewicz, Scott Hogan, Jonathan Leko and Sam Cosgrove.
Borini has also spent time at Chelsea, Swansea, Parma and Rome and has an Italian side under his belt.
