Bonnie Ryan will marry in the same Italian church that Lottie’s sister married five years ago

Bonnie, the daughter of Gerry Ryan, is following in the footsteps of her big sister Lottie by marrying in the same church in central Italy where the 2FM DJ married five years ago.

Onnie (29) loved Lottie’s big day in 2017 so much that she will almost replicate it when she walks down the aisle of the quaint old church of St Augustine in the village of La Machi, where the maternal grandparents of Lottie’s husband, Fabio Aprile, own a house.

Most of the wedding guests flew to Italy on Thursday and many of them are staying at the same hotel the Ryans stayed at five years ago, the Hotel Palazzo del Senatore in the town of Atina, which dates back to Roman times.

At the time, the family’s eldest son, Rex, took on the role of giving the bride – an honor his tragic father would have been a shoo-in to do before his untimely death in 2010.

Rex, who married himself in 2018, is expected to escort Bonnie down the aisle tomorrow, where she will exchange vows with John Greenhalgh.

Their sisters Lottie and Babette will be Bonnie’s bridesmaids, while close friend and influential colleague Rosie Connolly is expected to be part of the wedding party.

Will watch Bonnie’s proud mother, Morah, who will be accompanied by her boyfriend, singer Don Mescal, and also among the main guests, Ryan’s youngest brother, Elliot.

Last month, Bonnie uploaded a picture of herself wearing a smart white suit and hat designed by Briton Nadine Merabi. She also grabbed a bouquet of flowers following a civil ceremony in Dublin.

Bonnie and John and their guests enjoyed cocktails at the five-star Merrion Hotel, followed by dinner at The Ivy restaurant on Dawson Street.

The Italian church where she will celebrate her second wedding tomorrow is nestled in part of the Apennine mountain range, which runs down central Italy.

Most Irish brides and grooms will stay near the town of Casalattico, a two-hour drive south of Rome.

This will be Bonnie’s second attempt to get married in Italy, having previously canceled due to Covid restrictions.

The couple got engaged for just over two years after John proposed in New York in November 2019, and they’ve been together for almost 13 years since they were teenagers.

John is head of sales and development for Northern Europe at Asana, a platform that helps teams organize and manage their work and whose customers include Airbnb and Uber.
