Bookworm Heaven: Stay in an eco-friendly Norfolk corner in an orchard | Travel News | Travel

In the village of Sprowston, Norfolk, just outside of Norwich, is a little secret house known as the Bookery Nook which is small on an orchard. Describing it as “a simple, eco-friendly, creative, comfortable and peaceful place to stay,” guests can snuggle up by the campfire and walls of books to browse.

Vacationers can play candle-lit board games late into the night, along with other eco-friendly facilities including composting toilets and freshly made vegan soup on request.

Up to three people can stay per visit, with a comfortable double bed perched under the ginormous bookshelf and a single bed that pulls out of the window seat.

There’s also a kitchenette, free Wi-Fi, a music system, and a window seat to watch the local squirrels, hedgehogs, and chickens roam outside.

Entering through the garden gate, the orchard is free for those staying to taste apples, pears, plums and elderberries.

Owned by AirBnb superhost Sarah, this unique accommodation is built primarily from recycled materials and has welcomed visitors for the past two years.

She said: “We wanted to create an eco-friendly, wild and comfortable space within our small urban orchard initially for ourselves and our children to use, to encourage all of us to get out into nature a bit more.

“It was just opening it up to share with others via airbnb about two years ago, in early 2019, and we enjoyed every minute of it!”

For £ 65 a night with breakfast included, The Bookery Nook is ideally located between town and country, with several beaches within a 30-minute drive.

If you’d rather stay put, Sarah can also organize tai chi and circus sessions to try your hand at fire and juggling techniques, both costing an additional £ 20 for an hour.

Sarah added, “We have been superhosts the entire time, which reflects our commitment to our guests, as well as our high standards and the comfortable, relaxed and nature-based experience we provide.

“These are all enjoyed regularly by our clients, along with many feline therapies, via cuddles with our three cats. We like to keep things genuine, comfortable, peaceful and friendly.”

With the fall season fast approaching, The Bookery Nook still has reservations available in October and November.
