California duplex for sale has strong ‘horror’ vibes
The 1970s and 1980s were the final decades for the horror movie genre, so much so that popular streaming services such as Netflix found a way to nostalgically restore those spooky feelings with movies and TV shows. like “Fear Street” and “Stranger Things”.
Pretty scary, a duplex on the real estate market in the small tourist town of Big Bear Lake, Calif., for $450,000 embodies all those jaw-dropping nostalgic vibes and manages to mix yesterday’s horror chills with today’s chic thriller.
The 848 square foot home consists of two units – with one bedroom and one bathroom each. And what’s unique is that each room has its own horror movie theme.
“When you enter these units, you find yourself in a portal back in time to the 80s with cool retro flooring and wallpaper,” the listing says on Zillow.com. “Each unit has been meticulously upgraded, you will find new kitchens, bathrooms, new concrete driveway, new flooring, lighting, doors and hardware, retro stoves, newly upgraded HVAC units and much more. ”
Browsing through the photos, the first word that may come to mind is “Airbnb”, which is what fans of the popular real estate Facebook page Zillow gone wild thought … among other things.
It appears that, the duplex was a popular vacation rental before entering the market.
“So it’s a turnkey Airbnb is what you say,” one person said.
“Can we normalize transforming our homes exactly the way we want instead of trying to stay neutral because that’s what ‘everyone’ likes,” another person said. “It’s awesome!”
“Someone really appreciated this house. He is adored and in great condition,” another observed. “That’s what I see. Yes, it’s noisy, but there’s nothing here that’s expensive to renovate and honestly, it’s fun.
“I think the B-52s filmed their videos here,” one person joked.
“I really appreciate the commitment here,” said another.
A few Argus-eyed fans even figured out one of the units’ themes.
“So many people in this thread apparently haven’t seen ‘Stranger Things,'” someone said. “Every piece of a unit is inspired by this show, even the bedroom is based on Eleven’s shirt.”
“Wow! Stranger Things for the win,” another exclaimed. “That’s a commitment.”
The property even has an Instagram page.
Big Bear Lake is about 96 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
