Cameron Carter-Vickers ‘open’ to Celtic transfer as Champions League draw Hoops target

Celtic are set to take a step for Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers as they look to beef up their defense, according to a report.

The center-back is set to leave Spurs this summer and Celtic have contacted the Premier League side to sign him.

The US international is valued at around £ 5million and Celtic are said to face competition from Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Carter-Vickers spent last season on loan to the Championship team as they narrowly missed promotion back to the Premier League.

The Daily Record says Carter-Vickers has only one year left on his contract and Celtic is hoping to persuade him to join the rebuild of Ange Postecoglou.

The Celtic Park boss is focusing on the central backcourt and also getting closer to Carl Starfelt with defender Rubin Kazan set to join ahead of the Champions League playoffs.

And it’s the chance to play in this tournament that might persuade Carter-Vickers to move north.

The 23-year-old has made four first-team appearances for Spurs, all coming in the FA Cup or League Cup and he has also spent time on loan at Sheffield United, Ipswich, Swansea, Stoke and Luton, leaving him with a vast experience in the Championship.
