ForwardKeys is a travel consulting company founded in 2010. It looks at the number of boarding passes purchased around the world and maps the popularity of specific locations based on the data it collects.

As 2022 approaches, the company found that Cancun not only had the most boarding pass purchases for a Mexican location, but also the second most boarding pass purchases internationally.

Cancun obviously deserved this honor, as it is one of the most diverse destinations in the world.

Another factor contributing to the city’s tourism boom is its airport, which handled 20 million passengers from January to September this year, compared to 17.7 million passengers in 2019.
