Clara Sorrenti says she is hiding, fearing for her safety

Popular Twitch user and local transgender activist Clara Sorrenti says she is currently in hiding, fearing for her safety.

Sorrenti says he received threats after going public with an incident involving the London Police Service. She posted the experience on YouTube Thursday night.

“I was the target of an intense campaign of harassment for several months,” Sorrenti says in a video she uploaded. “Users of the kiwifarms.com site had doxed me and publicly posted the address of my hotel room [and] the house where I lived.

On August 5, Sorrenti was a suspected victim of what police are currently investigating as a possible “runover incident”.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that the police used Sorrenti’s dead name and incorrect gender. LPS Police Chief Steve Williams has since apologized for the mishandling of the incident.

For now, Sorrenti says she lives in an Airbnb that is rented by a third party in order to protect her identity.

“This case illustrates how insidious swatting has become,” says tech expert Carmi Levy. “It’s not a one-time impact, it’s ongoing and in some cases like this… never seems to end.”

Sorrenti shared online that his family, friends and people associated with him have been doxed.

According to Levi, cases like this are becoming more frequent and difficult to manage.

“Police forces here in London and across North America have struggled with this for the past few years. Unfortunately, law enforcement finds itself between a rock and a hard place and there is no easy solution,” says Levy.

And despite some unresolved issues with the police, Sorrenti says the police are taking the current threats against her seriously and are working on the matter together.

“I’m afraid things will escalate into future violence against me,” Sorrenti says.
