Countries with the most valuable passports in 2021 – 24/7 Wall St.

Special report

After more than a year of closures and border restrictions linked to the pandemic, COVID-19 vaccines offer hope for a post-pandemic increase in international travel and tourism. Yet even after the pandemic, some people will have more freedom and access to travel around the world than others – depending on the passport they carry.

In a post-COVID-19 world, a number of factors can impact an individual’s ability to travel freely, including international perceptions of the traveller’s nationality, restrictions on obtaining dual nationality, and the number of countries the traveler can enter without a visa.

Using an index of these and other measures compiled by Nomadic capitalist, a tax and immigration consulting firm, 24/7 Wall St. has identified the world’s most valuable passports.

The places that one can visit, without a prior visa, are largely determined by diplomatic links betbetween the country that issued the passport and the rest of the world. A passport issued by the United States, for example, grants its holder visa-free access to 187 countries – the seventh more of everything the country. Yet, in part because of the international perceptions of American travelers, in addition to the restrictions on dual citizenship, the United States is not on this list. Here are 29 countries the U.S. government doesn’t want you to visit.

The countries on this list tend to be relatively wealthy places. In all but two of the countries on this list, annual GDP per capita is more than double the global average of $ 11,433, according to the most recent data available from the World Bank. Here’s a look at the 10 richest countries in the world.
