Curators assume roles of Chair and Vice-Chair of PCO Review Committee
CONSERVATIVES assumed the positions of chair and vice-chair of the BCP Council’s Business and Community Oversight and Review Committee – roles previously held by minority group advisers.
Former Bournemouth mayor Lawrence Williams will now lead the committee with Roberto Rocca as vice-chairman, both elected by a 6-5 vote, beating independent Steve Bartlett who chaired the oversight committee for 18 months and Lib Dem candidate vice-president Marcus Andrews, Bearwood. and Merly.
Councilor Williams, who represents Littledown and Iford, has been a local councilor since 2011, initially with Bournemouth Borough Council where he was a cabinet member for seven years. He was mayor of the city in 2017-2018.
Councilor Rocca, East Cliff and Springbourne, described himself as a first-time PCO councilor with experience chairing meetings in his work and community roles. He said he had 14 years’ experience as a councilor in Milan before moving to Dorset.
Councilor Bartlett, Redhill and Northbourne, told the meeting that his term as chairman had been difficult, but that he had always tried to maintain a fair and balanced position and to steer the committee more towards a view of together.
