Discover the making of the OZZY OSBOURNE mural in Birmingham

According Birmingham Mailartist Robbie Jeffcott spent fifteen hours drawing the portrait of Ozzy Osbourne which has recently been completed at the Custard Factory, a complex of creative and digital workspaces, including independent shops, cafes and bars, on the site of what was Bird’s Custard factory near the High Street, Deritend , in the Digbeth district of central Birmingham, England.

Robbie explained why he chose to paint a ozy mural, saying, “I really only paint people I admire. He is (ozy) just a living legend, probably the most well-known iconic musician to come from Birmingham.

“Make people walk past and take little shots to tag me instagram, it’s good for me. I’ve had nothing but good feedback.”

Jeffcott shared several “process videos” of his ozy portrait in the instagram post below.

Over three years ago, ozy spoke of his pride in Birmingham, saying he never tried to escape his Birmingham roots.

He said: “Well, whatever people think of me – and I don’t get to see Birmingham very often – I’ve never tried to hide my accent and I’ve never denied that I was from Birmingham.

“I’m so proud of what I’ve done with my life, it’s amazing. Hold on to your dreams, because you know what? Once in a while they come true.”

He added: “I’m just one guy from Birmingham who’s been blessed with such dedicated fans throughout my career.”

From humble beginnings in the 1960s, Aston, Birmingham, England, ozy, Tony Iommi, Butler Geezer and Bill neighborhood established BLACK SABBATHin turn forging a new sound, a new aesthetic and a new musical culture — heavy metal.
