Dunkin ‘Donuts Rents Small Coffee House on AirBnB

You have to hand it over to Dunkin ‘. They’re really looking into this thing of ditching the “donuts” in our name and focusing on the coffee. They take their slogan “America runs on Dunkin ‘”, a bit too literally, or at least they would be if their slogan was “America lives in a tiny house that runs on Dunkin'”. For a limited time, Dunkin ‘is renting a mini-house on AirBnB powered by used coffee grounds.

The new ad campaign, presumably designed by my aunt who lives in the North East and ‘wishes she could live in a cup of Dunkin’ coffee ‘, coincides with Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee at Home, the brand’s push into the home market. . So they made a house … in which you can make their coffee … to fuel the house.

According to their website, Dunkin has partnered with Blue Marble Biomaterials, “a sustainable biochemical company,” to create an environmentally friendly biofuel from 65,000 pounds of spent coffee grounds. Biofuel is created by putting extracted coffee oils and through a chemical process known as “transesterification”, which is then “washed and refined”. For every 170 pounds of coffee grounds processed, a total of one gallon of biofuel is created, meaning Dunkin ‘and Blue Marble have created just over 380 gallons.

For just $ 10 a night, two people can stay in the 1-bedroom / 1-bath “studio” currently located in “beautiful Nahant, MA, featuring picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean and Boston skyline,” according to the AirBnB list. “It’s designed and decorated to look as modern as it works”, which might not be the best way to describe it, considering how it works with old, used (not modern) coffee – “showcasing a chic aesthetic with bespoke design elements.” And of course, guests have access to unlimited coffee, presumably Dunkin ‘, as well as a’ cozy coffee corner ‘for drinking. And here’s a fun fact: the interior was designed in partnership with actress Olivia Wilde. It’s cool I guess. I’m not sure how that relates to everything that’s going on here, but it is. Olivia Wilde designed the interior.

Now, you’re unlikely to have a chance to set aside time in the house running on Dunkin ‘. The mini-house is only available for rent until October 26e and I would bet dollars against donuts that it’s full. But, if you want to see what it looks like, a little 360 virtual tour is available on the Dunkn ‘Donuts Coffee at Home website.
