Edinburgh mum is constantly mistaken for her daughter’s sister because of her youthful appearance
A glamorous Edinburgh mum with eight daughters is constantly mistaken for her daughter’s sister because of her youthful looks and age-defying style.
Louise Young, 45, is a busy and devoted mum, but thanks to her youthful style, people think she’s another sister to her three oldest daughters.
Besides being shocked to learn that she is actually their mother, Louise says people are even more appalled when they find out she had eight children.
Louise is mum to Anita, 23, Elizabeth, 21, Sinead, 20, Tiger Lily, 13, Daisy, 11, Betty, eight, Louise, seven, and Jeanie, four.

The Edinburgh mum said: “I’m constantly asked how I look so young and good after having eight children. I don’t have any breakthrough beauty secrets, I think it’s just due having good genes.
“When I go to the gym, go shopping or dress up to hang out with my three oldest daughters, people can’t believe it when they find out they’re actually my girls!
“It’s even more shocking when I tell people that I have five other daughters and am a mother of eight children.
“They think I don’t look old enough to have had eight kids.
“It’s very flattering and I take it as a compliment because even though I’m constantly on the go and busy with all the kids, it’s nice to know that I don’t look my age.
“I’ve always been into fashion, beauty and taking care of myself, but I think that’s mostly down to my good family genes.”
Louise loves beauty treatments like getting her eyelashes and nails done and has her own tanning bed to give herself a healthy glow.
She also enjoys staying fit and healthy by going to the gym and working out with her three eldest daughters, Anita, Elizabeth and Sinead, four times a week.
Louisa, a full time momsaid: “People call me superwoman because I’ve been a mom to eight girls and managed to look beautiful.
“I’m constantly running after the kids.
“I have two washing machines and two dryers that are constantly running. I feel like I have endless piles of laundry to wash and I always cook for them.
“There is always a pot of food simmering in the kitchen.
“I love to be glamorous, but today I live in my sportswear while taking care of the children and the house.
“I’ve always wanted to have a big family and I love spending time with my husband and daughters.
“I wouldn’t change that for the world! It’s so much fun to have so many daughters too, because I’ve always been into fashion, hair and makeup, and my daughters are all the same.
“When they were younger they would walk around in my high heels, and the younger girls now also walk around with their older sisters.
“We all have a great bond.”
Louise has been a fashion icon to her daughters since they can remember and they have always admired her glamorous ways.
Her eldest daughters are as glamorous as she is, Elizabeth, one of Louise’s daughters, says her mum is so fashionable that she’s always digging into her wardrobe to borrow clothes, shoes and accessories.

Elizabeth added: “My sisters and I definitely got our style from our mum.
“She’s our inspiration. I wear my mom’s clothes and shoes all the time. It’s great because it’s like having two wardrobes to choose from instead of just one.
“My mom loves sharing with us and finds it flattering that she’s also the same size clothes as us!
“People always ask her how she looks so good after eight kids, but it comes naturally to her.
“We like spending time together. We usually go to the gym in the morning and then have breakfast.
“We like to shop and go out for meals together too.
“She’s an amazing and fun mum, and we can reach out to her with anything as a friend too. She’s so supportive and always pushes us to achieve our dreams.
“She’s always been so good at her hair and makeup, but my sisters and I also help keep her up to date with trends like contouring and backcombing.
“And we all share fashion advice. I’ve looked up to my mom for as long as I can remember and have always admired her style.
“She helps me put my outfits together and she even designed my wedding dress for me which was huge. I know she would think of something amazing and it was perfect!”
