Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted – Celebrity Chef Visits Tasmania

Gordon Ramsay has become softer and knows life in the kitchen doesn’t have to be so fiery anymore, chef Angela Hartnett said.

Hartnett, Ramsay’s protege, said she and the 55-year-old Hell’s Kitchen star had “frank conversations ‘about how times have changed’.

Hartnett said there was no need to be mean anymore and people would be surprised at how quiet restaurant kitchens are now.

Hartnett, 53, known for her style of Italian cooking, employs 100 people in her restaurants and “insists on them having normal working lives”.

The patron chef of chic Murano in Mayfair, told Jay Rayner on his Out To Lunch podcast: “Everyone wants to see Gordon-type cooking, but in fact most kitchens these days are calm and quiet.

“[There’s] background music, everyone enjoys it.

“There will always be a bit of tension in the kitchens.

“But you don’t have to be mean, you don’t have to be a bully. We had candid conversations about things like that. Even he knows that life isn’t like that anymore. It’s not worth the shot.

“If I’ve tried someone and come away as stressed as them, that’s not good for me.”

“There will always be a bit of tension in the kitchens in the sense that there’s a sense of urgency and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”

The chef continued: “There’s this adrenaline and I can crack but I think you don’t have to be mean, you don’t have to be a bully, that’s for sure.

“I probably [said that to Ramsay before].

“We had candid conversations about things like that.

“Even he knows life isn’t like that anymore for God’s sake it’s not worth it.

“If I’ve had times where I’ve tried someone and come away as stressed as them, that’s not good for me, so why would you do it to other people?

“It’s not healthy.”

Gordon Ramsay has sold one of his Cornwall homes

Earlier this month, journalist Gordon slapped one of his huge Cornish homes for a whopping £7.5million – almost double what he bought it for.

The house Gordon and his family fled to during the Covid-19 pandemic was bought by the TV chef in 2016 – for the whopping sum of £4million.

But since owning his seaside abode, he has earned around half a million pounds every year, as it is now worth almost double what she bought it for.

Not only has his property made him a ton of money, it’s said to be the most expensive sale ever in the seaside county.

The 55-year-old TV favourite sold his Trebetherick home in March 2021, according to land registry documents, and it is believed to be Cornwall’s most expensive sale of 2021.
