Great cafe in Krakow, Poland

I was hesitant to even stop for a coffee as we started the day quite late, but I’m glad I did, as I found a great little cafe in the heart of Krakow.

Best coffee in Krakow, Poland

With a gloomy day in Auschwitz-Birkenau, I stopped for a coffee on the way (my hotel cafe, the DoubleTree, wasn’t great…)

Cafe Wesola
Rakowicka 17
31-511 Krakow, Poland
+48 513932810
7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Wednesday – Monday)
7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Tuesday, Wednesday)

Wesoła is located in a quiet street in the middle of the town and rather simple from the outside. But inside, great coffee awaits…and pastries, breakfast and lunch if you wish.

Most importantly the coffee was excellent…I had a flat white and my friend had a cappuccino. On a cool, cold day, this really hit the spot.

The dining area has several tables inside, but there is an even larger terrace which was quite pleasant when I was there and I bet it is lovely in the warmer months.

LEPIEJ PIĆ KAWĘ NIŻ NIE (“better to drink coffee”)!

I ordered a second cup before leaving…

Skipping forward to the next day, we found our flight from Krakow to Chicago delayed. With three unexpected extra hours at the airport and a rental car already returned, I used my late-flight meal voucher for a cup of coffee at Boccone Trattoria.

Boccone Trattoria
John Paul II International Airport Krakow-Balice
Kapitana Mieczyslawa Medweckiego 1
32-083 Balice, Poland

4:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

The coffee menu was good, the machine was quite good, but maybe the barista was inexperienced as the flat white came out… flat and was served way too hot. I mention it, however, as it was a good quality coffee and I would definitely try this place again, hoping the baritsa has honed her skills over the past few months.

CONCLUSION

Wesoła coffee was such a treat and a nice balance for a sobering day.

My coffee posts are never meant to be exhaustive, but posts that I hope to build on when I return to a place. I will definitely return to these two cafes, but I always appreciate your recommendations for other great cafes in Krakow.
