Juan Alegria’s Rangers move closer to edges after paperwork wipes out January’s Ibrox Switch

Juan Alegria is expected to sign for Rangers after almost making the trip last January.

Steven Gerrard has been stalking the Colombian striker for some time and now the Daily check-in reports that he is expected to land the 19-year-old before the end of this transfer window.

Negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage as Gers seek to land the Finnish side’s FC Honka striker.

Britain’s controversial exit from the EU made a complicated decision six months ago, but Rangers are confident in a smoother process this time around.

Honka’s exit from the Europa League against Domzale means they are ready to let South America go.

Gers kick off their own European campaign tonight when they face Malmö in the Champions League third qualifying round first leg.

The winners will face either Olympiakos or Ludogrets in the play-offs for a chance to reach the group stages that turn the money.

Alegria was not signed straight away as a first-team player. Manchester United’s capture of Charlie McCann was confirmed last week and the plan to develop him until he’s ready for top-level squad action is the approach they also plan to d ‘adopt with the South American.

The hope is that he could eventually have a similar impact as his compatriot Alfredo Morelos, who also moved to Govan from Colombia via Finland.
