Kate Garraway left without food after Derek Draper was diagnosed with Covid but says Emma Willis helped
Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway has revealed her financial struggles when her husband Derek Draper was stricken with Covid-19.
Kate was left without food on Christmas when she couldn’t make it to a supermarket because she was isolating herself before her scheduled visit to her husband Derek in the hospital.
She was struggling until Voice presenter Emma Willis sent her a luxury Marks and Spencer basket to help her over the holiday season.
Kate hadn’t been able to secure a supermarket delivery slot in her family home where she was isolating herself with her children Billy and Darcey.
Kate told The Sunday Times magazine: “We had this amazing situation where we didn’t have bread but we had canapes.
“The children would ask, ‘What’s for breakfast?’ “Sofas”. “Can’t we have Rice Krispies?” “
It has been an incredibly difficult year for Kate’s family after her husband was hospitalized with coronavirus last March.
She has been in “survival mode” since then, reports the Mirror.
She renovated their house before her husband returned. It was fitted with ramps, she had the doors widened for wheelchair access and a bathroom was installed.
Kate wanted to talk about the devastating impact of the coronavirus on her husband’s life.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘As we spend a year since Covid-19 changed us forever, I wanted to get closer to find out how and why this had such a devastating impact on Derek’s life and how we move forward in this new world. “
