Las Vegas braces for crowds and traffic ahead of 3-day EDC weekend

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Crews are putting the finishing touches on the Electric Daisy Carnival, or EDC, festival set to take place this weekend.

The three-day event begins on Friday. The event attracts crowds of people and lots of money.

The pandemic has caused some changes for the festival in the past and delayed it last year. In 2022, however, it is back to its usual time.

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway turns into a festival and people brace for the crowds.

“EDC is one of the events we’re looking forward to,” said Motel 6 General Manager Beau Desjardin. “We’re completely sold out, 100% booked, and expect to be that way this weekend.”

For three days, 400 artists will occupy 15 different stages. Some of EDM’s biggest DJs, like Tiesto and Dillon Francis, will be there.

Campers start arriving Thursday morning, and everyone is booking hotels or Airbnbs, with many spending hundreds of dollars a night.

For those who have not reserved a room, they can travel all the way.

“If you’re looking in the immediate area, you’re going to pay a much higher price,” Desjardin continued.

Ingrid Rosa from Entertainment Labor Force prepared for the event.

“It’s huge in there, it’s a city, literally the city of EDC,” Rosa said.

She said it’s good to know that the events are changed as they were before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It means a lot of work, a lot of business, it’s hot, it’s a lot of hours, but it’s a lot of money, a lot of money for people waiting to work,” he said. -she adds.

People camping on the speedway can arrive from Thursday morning and the first series will start Friday evening.

General admission tickets are sold out, but VIP tickets are still on sale. These cost around $1,000.

Some more traffic is also expected due to the event.
