Lawrenceville Operator Works to Bring New Breakfast Restaurant to Former Coca Cafe Space – WPXI
PITTSBURGH – After five years of building a clientele for its Geppetto café, as well as generating stays for its Airbnb apartments, Evren Karabacak is set to set up a new breakfast restaurant on the former Coca Cafe site. , a Lawrenceville landmark that helped spur neighborhood revitalization and ended an almost 18-year run when its owners put it up for sale last year at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic .
“The Coca Cafe has not closed due to a failure,” Karabacak said, noting the challenges all restaurants have faced amid the pandemic. “They had a solid business.
He’s convinced enough of the potential that he’s bought the business, which was recently approved for a liquor license, and is moving forward with a new restaurant in the space at 3811 Butler Street.
