Small people, big world star Matt Roloff just made a huge announcement about Roloff Farms and fans aren’t thrilled.

Five months after TLC reality TV cast member revealed he was selling 16 of the 109 acres of land the Roloff family owned, he posted a new business development on Instagram. Standing next to a short-term rental sign in front of the large house, he shared that not only had he taken his portion of land off the market, but he would also allow fans to stay there for vacation purposes. .

The patriarch explained how he came up with the idea, citing “new business partners and networking connections” for his latest venture. “After many meetings and conversations (and spreadsheets haha) I’ve decided to take the little farm out of the open market and partner with @itrip_vacations and open @rolofffarms to everyone and to anyone wishing to spend a few nights at the Roloff family home”, he wrote October 22.

He continued: “More information will be available soon… but needless to say, we are scrambling behind the scenes (plus managing the busy Pumpkin patch) to convert (refurbish) the house so it’s ready for its first guests. . “

“I hope many families can get together and have family reunions at this house. Who knows, maybe even our family will get together for a weekend at the old house,” Matt concluded.

Without surprise, Small people, big world fans had complicated feelings about her big news.

“So you’ll be sharing the farm with millions of people you don’t know, but not your kids unless they break their backs for you. Nice job,” one fan wrote on Instagram, referencing to Matt’s ongoing drama on the property. “I don’t believe in handouts, but I do believe in compromise. I would choose family over bottom line!” another follower noted. “It’s a shame you didn’t think of this sooner, which saves the whole family a lot of grief and tension,” another viewer added.

Matt’s latest statement is another layer of a major storyline from last season. As viewers know, Roloff Farms was where he and ex wife Amy raised their four children Jeremy, zackMolly and Jacob. His choice of buy out Amy’s share and sell part of the farms caused a breakup between him, Jeremy, and Zach, with the two sons attempting to separately purchase their father’s property.

“My twins decided not to consider working together for a possible joint sale. Both (along with their growing families) had moved on to other interests and investments,” Matt wrote. on Instagram back in May. “Even though a substantial family rebate and ‘equity gift’ was offered by Amy and I (and I still owe Amy a lot of money), they individually decided that now was not the time for them to d buy part of the farm at that time.”

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out when the brand new season of Small people, big world premieres on TLC on November 1.
