GARY O’Neil has reportedly added the first piece to his behind-the-scenes staff puzzle, with Liverpool academy coach Tim Jenkins apparently set for a new role on the South Coast.
Athletic report that Jenkins, assistant for the Reds Under-18 side, will join O’Neil at Vitality Stadium.
O’Neil, who was originally appointed on an interim basis, was given the full-time job after impressing in his 11 league games in charge.
Most of Scott Parker’s behind-the-scenes staff left when the former Fulham man was sacked, with former assistant Matt Wells, goalkeeping coach Rob Burch and analyst Jonathan Hill also departing.
Two Parker appointees, Head of Performance Alistair Harris and Head Physical Performance Coach Charlie Moore have remained in their roles, with club legend Steve Fletcher joining fellow former Cherries Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick in the squad. of O’Neil’s makeshift coaches.
Cooper and Elphick left their coaching roles at the academy to help out the first team in the interim, with the composition of O’Neil’s permanent coaching staff still unclear.
Jenkins, who has been at Liverpool for a decade, worked directly with O’Neil with the Reds Under-23s when Neil Critchley was manager. Prior to working for the Merseyside giants, Jenkins worked for breakthrough analytics firm ProZone.
