Microsoft signed a short-term lease in Southlake.

According to a company spokesperson, Microsoft signed a short-term lease with VariSpace for 80,000 square feet at 1900 West Kirkwood Boulevard.

The space will be used for employees while the main Las Colinas campus undergoes a renovation.

The announcement comes after Governor Greg Abbott said the tech company would invest more than $ 30 million for a strategic hub in the Dallas-Fort Worth area last year.

Microsoft is expected to move into space in early 2021.

The company currently has seven locations in Texas, the closest of which is at 7000 State Highway 161 in Dallas, according to its website.
