Calgary police have charged an Airbnb tenant after seizing nearly $500,000 worth of drugs and several firearms.

Officers were called Saturday to reports of weapons and drug activity at a room rental in the 1500 block of 5th Street SW According to a police news release, the tenant was arrested at the scene. A search of the unit revealed $490,000 worth of illicit drugs and what is believed to be drug dispensing equipment, as well as several illegal firearms.

Police seized two 9mm pistols, a .22 caliber pistol, seven magazines – one of which held 31 rounds – other ammunition, seven kilograms of cocaine, cutting agents and drug distribution equipment such as scales and packaging.

Anthoulah Dessalines, 31, is charged with possession of an unlicensed weapon, possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm, knowledge of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and careless storage of a firearm.

Dessalines was released on bail and will next appear in court on October 24.
