Netflix launches long-awaited vacation rental-themed show
United States: Netflix highlights some of the world’s most sought-after short-term rental and vacation locations in its new show, The most amazing vacation rentals in the world.
With more people resuming travel after a year-long hiatus against Covid, Netflix began airing its new show on June 18 and is looking to promote unique spaces available for short-term rental around the world.
The most amazing vacation rentals in the world is hosted by three people who are familiar with travel and real estate.
- Jo Franco – a travel writer who has traveled to over fifty countries.
- Megan Batoon – a DIY designer who has a clothing website, podcast, and YouTube channel.
- Luis D. Ortiz – already seen on Million Dollar List.
The three hosts travel the world together, exploring a variety of locations in different climates.
Each of the eight episodes of the first season highlights three locations: a unique rental selected by Franco, an economy option selected by Batoon, and a luxury property selected by Ortiz. The properties ranged from blazing sun to snowy cold.
The 24 locations featured in the first season include: Bali, Alaska, Montana, Miami, the Caribbean, Finland, Mexico City, the Bahamas, Japan, the Berkshires, Hawaii and beyond. Rentals took various forms, ranging from a lighthouse to an alpaca farm to a bamboo house.
The show was primarily filmed after the start of the pandemic, with only a few locations filmed in January 2020.
Due to the pandemic, most episodes show the hosts alone, without the presence of other guests. The hosts expressed that this lack of other guests shows that the holidays are possible in a safe manner against Covid.
Batoon said: “I think a well-designed vacation rental can provide a lot of comfort for people to know that something can be safe, if they are worried about Covid.”
The show aims to highlight where hosts have stayed, rather than their other activities, by deepening the availability of safe options for Covid.
Franco said: “We were in these places in the middle of nowhere to spend the time of our lives… We can immerse in the experience, we can be more isolated, we can feel private and safe.”
The most amazing vacation rentals in the world comes at a time that is filled with new travel related TV listings. With the launch of Magnolia Network in July with a travel-related programming program and the renewal of two of its own series by HGTV, more and more options are becoming available for those who wish to view travel-related programming.
All eight episodes of the series are available to watch here.
