No plot in hit and run murder of Briton in Kiev, judge | UK News

There was no plot to kill a British businessman who died in a hit-and-run in Ukraine while celebrating his first wedding anniversary, a judge found.

Barry Pring, a computer consultant, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a car while waiting for a taxi on a pavement outside a restaurant in Kiev on February 16, 2008.

He was out for dinner with his wife, Ganna Ziuzina, now known as Julianna Moore, when the couple attempted to wave to a passing car after learning that a cab wouldn’t arrive for 40 minutes.

As Moore returned to the restaurant to retrieve a glove she had left there, a car with fake “high speed” license plates struck Pring on the hard unlit shoulder, causing fatal injuries, said Justice Paul Matthews, seated as Coroner.

Pring, 47, from Devon, met Moore on an internet dating site and they were married in Ukraine in January 2007. The investigation learned how Pring’s mother, Irene, and brother Shaughan began to suspect foul play after death and then accused Moore of arranging for him to be murdered.

An investigation in Devon in January 2017 concluded that Pring had been unlawfully killed, but this was later overturned by the High Court.

Recording a narrative verdict following the new five-day investigation at Bristol Civil Justice Center, the judge said:.

Instead, the Pring family made a number of allegations based on circumstantial evidence which they said collectively suggest that Julianna Moore was criminally involved in organizing the death of her husband, Barry Pring, and was indeed guilty of his murder. “

Pring owned three properties in the London area and an apartment in Kiev, but the judge described him as “not so rich” because they were mortgaged, which Moore knew.

Giving evidence at the inquest, Moore said his life would have been “much more financially comfortable” if Pring was alive and denied any involvement in his death.

The judge said: “If it was a murder, it was a curious, risky and inept way of committing it. He added: “I’m not sure there ever was a plot to assassinate Barry Pring, let alone Julianna Moore was part of it.”
