Original barbecue hut in the Lake District that you can rent for the night

Summer vacation is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan a weekend getaway.

Whether you usually opt for a night in a hotel or in a B’n’B, you may never have considered this somewhat offbeat option. On Airbnb, a cabin has been listed in the Lake District which is unlike anything we’ve seen before.

It is a unique Scandinavian barbecue cabin, nicknamed “The Den”, which is perfect for two people as it includes a bed and a toilet with a sink. There is also a large BBQ in the centre, so you can sit down and enjoy a relaxing area in the evening – as well as a place to cook.

The original cabin has many other features that are sure to add to your experience including Wi-Fi, fridge, microwave, kettle and Nespresso machine. Bedding is provided and there is also a toilet and sink with hot and cold drinking water next to the cabin in a separate shed, which can also be used for daily washing as there is no shower on site .

The Airbnb listing describes the cabin as being set on two-thirds of an acre, with beautiful gardens and private countryside views. It is located just an eight minute drive from Windermere or five minutes from Kendal – perfect for anyone wanting to get to the cabin by public transport or if you are driving you can visit knowing you will be close to amenities and local hotspots. Private and secure off-street parking is also available.

If you are an avid cyclist this trip is perfect as there is easy access to a cycle path and if you wish you can bring your bike to the cabin leaving your car at the property after your first night and then you can continue your journey by bicycle. There is also a secure garage on site for your bike.

A first bag of charcoal and BBQ lighters will be provided, but if you want more you will need to buy your own or buy additional bags from the hosts at £3 per bag. To keep costs down there will be no cleaning charge but if you want it clean it will cost a reasonable £15 or you will be charged for it to be left dirty and messy .

This is bad news for pet owners because the cabin does not allow this. The cabin is booked until 9/11 but if you want to go on that date it will cost you a total of £110 for the night.
