Parklife: Airbnbs increase their prices by 90%

PARKLIFE FESTIVAL officially kicks off this weekend – and new research suggests many Airbnb owners have raised their prices specifically for it.

Of all the events and festivals that take place in the UK, research revealed that the Heaton Park festival saw one of the biggest increases in Airbnb prices.

Manchester Airbnb owners charge over 90% more to stay at their properties during the Parklife Festival weekend, according to a study by

The study surveyed the average price per night for rentals on Airbnb on the dates and locations of the UK’s biggest festivals throughout 2021.

The prices were then compared to the corresponding dates from the previous week to reveal which festivals increase Airbnb prices the most.

Airbnb prices during the Parklife weekend have increased by 90.5% and the average price during the event has jumped from £ 95 per night to £ 181 per night when the festival takes place.

It was ranked second worst festival in the UK for Airbnb treks.

According to the hotel reservation platform, 86% of all accommodation in Manchester is not available for booking from September 11 to 12 (based on a booking for two people).

Currently the cheapest place to book at the time of writing is a guesthouse and they charge £ 163 for one night.

The same guesthouse only charges £ 45 per night for a night on September 18th.

Even Britannia hotels in the area, known for their reasonable prices, currently charge up to £ 199 for a night.

Parklife is a festival that takes place in a city center location with no camping available, so it’s no surprise to see Airbnbs bookings in Manchester quickly, despite rising rental prices.

However, Parklife’s numbers are nothing compared to the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow, which sees a whopping 104% increase when the festival is underway.

TRNSMT is also a non-camping festival, which means other accommodation must be found, which is probably why TRNSMT saw the biggest increase in Airbnb prices over the festival weekend.
