Pete Davidson went to trauma therapy due to Kanye West’s online harassment: Source

Since April of this year, the saturday night live alum, 28, “has largely been in trauma therapy” due to threatening messages West, 45, repeatedly posted on social media while Davidson was dating the rapper’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
“The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger for [Pete]and he had to seek help,” the insider said.
The source adds that Davidson, who recently separated of Kardashian, 41, “has no regrets about dating Kim and wants to make it very clear that she was nothing but supportive throughout their relationship.”
“Moving forward, he just wants to focus on his career,” the insider adds of Davidson.
A rep for West did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Last week, Davidson and the SKIMS mogul decided to go their separate ways after nine months of dating.
“Part of the reason they broke up was because of their busy schedules,” an insider previously told PEOPLE of the couple, who were first linked in October 2021. both all the time and it was difficult.”
After their split made headlines, West reacted on Instagram on Monday morning with a since-deleted post featuring an image of an edited character. New York Times newspaper with a headline that read “Skete Davidson dead at 28”.
Beneath the title, another part of the fake mockup read: ‘Kid Cudi wanted to play at the funeral but was afraid of bottle throwers’ – a nod to an incident at the Miami Rolling Loud Festival last month, where fans in attendance threw water bottles to him. (Cudi, 38, and West have admitted to beef of their own.)

Now, a source tells PEOPLE that Davidson and Kardashian’s respective teams have each reached out to Instagram about the post.
“His and Kim’s team have repeatedly reached out to Instagram asking to make the platform a safer space,” the insider said, also noting that West’s repeated attacks are one of the reasons why. Davidson has “been absent from social media.”
A source close to Kardashian also told PEOPLE that Davidson’s involvement in trauma therapy played no part in their breakup. “Kim does not tolerate this type of behavior from Kanye,” the source said.
“She’s upset about the breakup. But the schedule made it so difficult and the fact that they lived in two different cities,” the insider added, reiterating the reason for the couple’s breakup.

West had previously launched several attacks on the former couple, both online and in the press, on various occasions, including in a video for his single “Eazy”, in which the rapper abducted, tied up and buried a clay version of Davidson, among others.

During the sales Pete Davidson Presents: Best Friends To display to Netflix is a festival of jokes Earlier this year, Davidson opened up about her experience with Kardashian amid her divorce from West, telling the audience, “How’s your year going? Good? I’ve had a really weird year.”
“I had an AIDS scare this year. Yeah, I did,” he continued. “And you say, ‘Pete, wow. What’s going on in your life? Do you share needles? Do you do heroin? Do you have tons of unprotected sex?’ No. Kanye told me I had AIDS. And he’s a genius. So I was like, ‘Oh fuck.’ I was like, ‘I better call my doctor. The guy who did Dropping out of college think I have AIDS.'”
Davidson joked about going to the doctor for the matter, saying “maybe” the Yeezy creator was “right” after all. “So a doctor told me I don’t have AIDS. I just look like I have it. So that’s a whole different thing,” he said.
Continuing to mock West’s own slur against him, Davidson said it was “such an old thing” to say given that the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic was in the mid-1980s. “John Mulaney Call me. He’s like, ‘AIDS? You should spread the word he has polio,” he joked, referring to a disease that was eradicated in the United States since 1979.
