Police are looking for man suspected of murdering his wife in Leeds | UK News

Police are looking for a man suspected of murdering his wife before fleeing to Scotland.

West Yorkshire Police have taken the rare step of naming Mark Barrott, 54, a suspect in the murder of his wife, Eileen Barrott, at their Leeds home on Sunday.

Eileen, a nurse at St James’s Hospital, was found dead at the couple’s home in the town’s Whinmoor neighborhood on Sunday evening.

Detectives on Tuesday released CCTV footage of her husband, who was last seen in Aberdeen city center shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday after arriving on a train from Leeds via Edinburgh.

DCI Vanessa Rolfe said Eileen’s family were “completely devastated” by her death and asked for help in locating the victim’s husband.

“We continue to conduct full investigations to locate Mark Barrott as a suspect in the murder of his wife Eileen,” she said.

‘We are in close contact with our Scottish Police colleagues who established Mr Barrott’s latest sighting on CCTV in Aberdeen town center on Sunday evening.

“We look forward to hearing from anyone who has seen him since then or who has information that may help locate him.”

Eileen had worked for 25 years at St James’s Hospital, where colleagues honored her on Tuesday.

The Leeds University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the sudden and unexpected passing of Eileen Barrott.

“She will be sadly missed by all of her trust friends and colleagues. It was a shock to his colleagues and we are doing all we can to support them during this difficult time. “
