NEW Portsmouth striker Colby Bishop has been left bewildered after a wild transfer rush.

Bishop saw a move to Blackpool fall apart following questions about his medical condition and an injury he suffered as a teenager.

As the Seasides hesitated, Pumped returned and signed Bishop from Accrington Stanley after another medical.

The 25-year-old has played over 100 senior games since the injury occurred during his school days.

Blackpool reportedly agreed fee and personal terms with the striker before the old injury was paid in the deal.

The last-minute swoop means Danny Cowley has bolstered his attacking options as his side look to make an assault on promotion to Ligue 1.

Their fight for a play-off spot fizzled out at the end of last season and they finished ten points from a top-six position.

Lack of goals was one of the main reasons they couldn’t move up, with their 68 the lowest in the top 10 last season.

Pompey’s top scorers in all competitions were George Hirst with 13 and Marcus Harness with 12.

Bishop scored 12 points last season for Stanley, who finished 12th.

His career started at Notts County where he was sent on loan to Gloucester City.

Bishop then had stints at non-league clubs Boston United and Leamington before returning to the football league.

At Accrington he scored 31 goals in 109 appearances.
