Birmingham Police Department reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a recent homicide. The incident occurred on Wednesday October 27, 2021 at 1639 51ST Ensley Street.
The victim has been identified as Charles Stewart Sr. (60), b / m, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Just after 7:00 p.m., officers from the western compound responded to a call from a shot. Officers arrived at the private residence and were alerted that the victim was inside without reacting. The victim was shot and wounded. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and declared the victim dead.
The suspect involved in the incident remained at the scene and was taken into police custody.
The suspect has been identified as Charles Stewart Jr., (27), b / m from Birmingham, Alabama.
The suspect is the son of the murder victim in this incident. Preliminary investigation indicates that a physical altercation escalated and the son shot his father. The incident took place inside the residence.
The detectives got a warrant for Reckless murder ($ 15,000 bail) with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for the arrest of the accused. The accused will be transported from Birmingham City Jail to Jefferson County Jail.
This is Birmingham’s 86th murder investigation in 2021 with 12 justifiable deaths Surveys).
