Project in brief: The Global Ambassador, Phoenix
Serial restaurateur Sam Fox is set to mark his long-awaited hospitality debut with the creation of a 141-room luxury program in the state capital of Arizona.
This grandiose property will provide a refined hospitality experience combining local connections with a global perspective.
From restaurants to luxury hotels
Sam Fox collaborates with Brian Frakes of Common Bond Development Group to bring his very first hotel, The Global Ambassador, to life. Frakes will support the acclaimed conservator in areas such as design, architectural oversight and financial modeling.
Nelsen Partners Architects assume the role of lead architect and Berghoff Design Group oversees the landscape architecture. After working on the majority of Fox’s previous projects, Judi Testani of Testani Design Troupe will take care of the interior design of the Phoenix-based hotel.
The property is located in Red developmentat the northwest corner of 44th Street and Camelback Road, where Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley converge.
For this project, Fox draws on over 20 years of restaurant experience, encompassing over 100 of its own restaurant openings. He has been an 11-time semi-finalist for the James Beard Award in the Restaurateur of the Year category and bestselling cookbook author for the New York Times. For five consecutive years, he was named one of the 50 most influential people in the restaurant industry by Nation’s Restaurant News.
In 2019, its catering group, Fox Restaurant Concepts, was acquired by The Cheesecake Factory, but as founder he remains responsible for its operations. Fox will manage, operate and co-develop the hotel as part of its new company Author & Edit Hospitality.
Top-of-the-range gastronomy and well-being
The Global Ambassador will house 141 well-appointed guest rooms, as well as a host of culinary and wellness experiences. Striving to inspire travelers as a new luxury lifestyle brand, the property promises to deliver a vibrant energy and worldly flair that reflects the importance of this opening to Fox.
Unsurprisingly, the program will house several inventive culinary concepts. Guests can expect five restaurants featuring cuisine with Greek, Italian and Moroccan influences, headlining a huge 18,000 square foot rooftop restaurant with views of Camelback Mountain. And its wellness center will include an extensive level of fitness and an ultra-luxurious spa with treatments designed to balance mind and body.
The hotel’s exceptional culinary and wellness offerings will be joined by a limited-access membership club.
Currently in the planning phase, The Global Ambassador is expected to end at the end of 2023.
