Residents concerned after shooting in Hollywood neighborhood – NBC 6 South Florida

Hollywood residents are worried for their safety after several shootings in their neighborhood.

The most recent happened just before midnight on November 22. NBC 6 obtained home video showing muzzle flashes igniting in the 6600 block of McKinley Street.

Two people were shot that night and are expected to recover, Hollywood police said. Officials said the shooting was an isolated incident and did not provide further details.

Neighbors said in the video that someone is heard running out of a house and firing back at a runaway car. Glimpses of what looks like muzzle flashes can be seen from the porch.

At least one of the victims was sitting in his car outside a house, neighbors said. The video shows a neighbor walking outside and then screaming for help.

“There was a young girl who was bleeding,” said a neighbor. “The car was shot. We heard about 80 gunshots.”

Neighbors say the shooting happened in an apartment building and told NBC 6 there have been several recent shootings there.

“Around June or July of last year, this place was rented out,” another neighbor said. “And everyone who has passed through this neighborhood since then has been questionable at best.”

Ownership records revealed the home is owned by RPS Consulting Florida, LLC. The business owner said his company owns the property, but another LLC leases the property and operates it as an Airbnb operation.

Neighbors tell us they want something done to make them feel safe again. Hollywood police said they are increasing patrols in the area.
