Small NJ town named top fall travel destination for 2022

One way to enjoy fall in New Jersey is to take advantage of the last season of outdoor activities before the weather becomes unbearable.

New Jersey has beautiful foliage, especially if you travel to North Jersey.

The mountains (yes, there are mountains here) are covered in red, orange and yellow forests that make you want to go pumpkin picking and sipping hot apple cider.

Road trips in the summer are fun, but traveling in the fall is scenic.

Luckily for us, Travel Pulse has released a list of the best fall travel destinations in every state and New Jersey is not what you think.

I first thought they would piggyback on Airbnb’s #1 fall destination, Ocean City, NJ.

But Travel Pulse is more about foliage and the feeling of fall, unlike Airbnb, which based its decision on summer weather through September. You can’t beat a beach day in September after everyone has left the shore for back to school.

So where can people travel in New Jersey this fall? In the heart of Hunterdon County for Clinton, New Jersey.

Travel Pulse calls Clinton the “most charming little town” and here’s why.

If you’re not from Hunterdon County and don’t know enough about the area, this is where the Red Millan industrial mill built around 1810 to process wool.

The Moulin Rouge sits on the river and is so picturesque it makes for a great Instagram post.

But apart from that, the Moulin Rouge has been restored as a museum that you can visit.

During the fall season, you can also purchase tickets for the Red Mill Haunted Halloween Experience.

Clinton is also home to streets of Victorian-style homes and historic churches that give off that Halloween vibe.

If you like to shop, this is the perfect little town to walk around and spend some money.

And don’t forget to eat. There are a handful of good restaurants, cafes and a vintage inspired ice cream parlor.

So I think Travel Pulse got it right. It’s the perfect place for a drive on a fall day.

Say you’re from Jersey without saying you’re from Jersey

These are everyday expressions that only someone from New Jersey would understand. What else should be on this list?
